Assess physical climate risks with AI screening

How to identify physical climate risks by location in preeco | nachhaltigkeit: open the screening dialog in the climate DMA, run the AI-supported screening of your geocoded facilities and accept the suggestions as IRO entries.

Last updated:

Physical climate risks depend directly on the location of your facilities. Instead of recording each risk by hand, the AI-supported screening checks your team’s geocoded facilities against known climate hazards on the basis of the TCFD taxonomy — the basis for identifying physical risks under ESRS E1 IRO-1.

Prerequisites

  • An AI provider is configured under “Settings > Integrations”. Without an AI integration, the start button is missing from the dialog.
  • At least one facility of the team has geocoordinates. Otherwise the start button is disabled and shows the note “No geocoded facilities”.
  • The climate DMA assessment is in “Draft” status and you have editing permission.

Step by step

  1. Open the “Climate DMA” page and scroll to the “Risks and Opportunities” section.
  2. Open the “Add risk or opportunity” dropdown button and select “AI-supported screening of physical risks”. The dialog of the same name opens on the right.
  3. Check the location coverage in the gray notice area at the top, for example Geocoded facilities: 3 (1 facilities without coordinates). The “Previous screening runs” section lists earlier runs with “Date”, “Suggestions”, “Accepted”, “Rejected”, “Status” and “Actions”.
  4. Click the “AI-supported screening of physical risks” button at the bottom. Use “Add manually” instead if you want to switch to manual entry.
  5. Confirm the “Run AI screening of physical risks?” dialog with “Run screening”. If results already exist for the organization and reporting period, “Previous screening results are available” appears instead — choose either “Show previous results” or “Run new screening”.
  6. Wait for the run to finish. Meanwhile the loading animation “Screening facilities for physical climate risks..” is shown.
  7. In the “AI-suggested physical risks” dialog, review every suggestion card with its description, category, subcategory, “Confidence”, probability and time horizon.
  8. Accept a suggestion with “Accept”, or adjust it first via “Edit”, where you can change description, category, probability and time horizon. Accepted suggestions are marked “Accepted” and can be reverted using “Cancel”.
  9. If you consider the results reliable overall, use “Accept all high-confidence suggestions” and confirm the follow-up dialog. Then leave the view with “Close”.

Result

Accepted suggestions are created as IRO entries in draft status in the “Risks and Opportunities” table, where you assess them further like manually created entries. The run appears in the “Previous screening runs” section with its date and its suggestion and acceptance counts.

Practical tip

Before screening, store the geocoordinates of all relevant locations under “Settings > Organizations and Facilities”. Facilities without coordinates are ignored during the screening and are listed separately in the dialog’s notice area.
