Validate completeness and activate the DMA

Before a DMA counts, it has to be complete. “Validate completeness” shows what is still missing and takes you to the right place with a button. Once all blocking checks pass, you activate the DMA.

Prerequisites

• The DMA has the status “Draft”.
• Administrators, Managers and Editors can fix open points; Administrators, Managers and Approvers can activate.

Step by step

1. Open the topic’s DMA page, for example “Climate → DMA”, and choose “Actions → Validate completeness”.
2. Read the “Summary”, for example 1 / 3 blocking checks passed.
3. Under “Needs attention”, each open check has a button that takes you to the fix: “Open the table” for IROs without an outcome, “Open sub-topic areas” when nothing is recorded for an area, and for climate “Record the climate risk method”. Checks that pass are listed under “Passed checks”.
4. Fix the open points and open the check again.
5. Once all blocking checks pass, click “Activate DMA” in the slide-over or under “Actions”. The dialog names the material sub-topic areas, for example “Climate is material through Climate Change Mitigation and Climate Change Adaptation.”
6. Confirm with “Activate DMA”. The message “The DMA is now Active” appears.

Blocking and advisory checks

• Blocking: every IRO has an outcome. Every sub-topic area has IROs or is defined not material. For climate also: the climate risk method is recorded.
• Some topics, such as Water, also have advisory checks. They point to what may be missing but do not stop activation.
• The “Activate DMA” item under “Actions” is never greyed out. If something is still open, the dialog lists the open checks and offers “Open validate completeness”.

If no sub-topic area is material

Then the topic as a whole is not material. The dialog requires the basis for the topic not being material. The report states that basis and leaves out every disclosure of the topic.

What activation does

• The status changes to “Active” and the scores are locked.
• The disclosures for the material sub-topic areas switch on for the reporting period.
• Adding, editing, AI discovery, not-material definitions, archiving and deleting are hidden.
• Each topic has its own status: an active climate DMA does not activate the water DMA.
