Create a frequently asked question

How to create a frequently asked question in preeco | hinweisgeber that is shown to potential whistleblowers in the whistleblower portal – from the required permission to the question and answer and the assignment to an organisation.

Last updated:

Frequently asked questions address what potential whistleblowers wonder about before they submit a report – anonymity, how submitted reports are handled, or how to reach your team. In this guide you create such a question so that it appears publicly in the whistleblower portal.

Prerequisites

  • You have permission to view frequently asked questions (listFrequentlyAskedQuestions).
  • To create one you also need the createFrequentlyAskedQuestion permission – without it, the “New” button is not visible.
  • You know which organisation the question should later be assigned to.

Step by step

  1. In the left navigation, section “Settings”, click “Frequently asked questions”. The page shows the table of existing questions; if none have been created yet, the table shows “No entries available”.
  2. Click the “New” button at the top right of the section. A side panel titled “Create question” opens.
  3. In the required field “Question”, enter the question text that whistleblowers will see in the portal.
  4. Write the answer in the required field “Answer”. The rich text editor offers “Bold”, “Italic”, “Bulleted list”, “Numbered list”, “Link”, “HTML” and “More formatting”.
  5. Click “Save”. You are redirected to the detail page of the newly created question. Use “Cancel” to close the panel without saving.

Make the question visible in the portal

Frequently asked questions are managed centrally within the team, but they only appear in the whistleblower portal where they are assigned. You make that assignment in the settings of the respective organisation, not on the question itself. This way each organisation can display its own selection of questions.

Check the translations

If your team has stored a DeepL API key, the question and answer are translated automatically into the active languages. On the detail page, use the language selection switch at the top right (for example “DE”, “EN”) to change the display language and adjust a translation manually via “Edit” if needed. If a translation is missing, the field shows a dash (-).

Practical tip: Phrase the question from the whistleblower's perspective – “Will my identity remain anonymous?” rather than “Anonymity”. Short, clear answers are much easier to read in the portal and lower the threshold for submitting a report.
