Change the scope of application of a report

How to assign a report to a different scope of application in the “Scopes of application” tab and then maintain the associated procedural steps as a checklist on the detail page.

Last updated:

The scope of application categorises a report thematically and determines which procedural steps are offered for processing. This guide shows you how to change the scope of application of an existing report and then set the completion status of the associated steps.

Prerequisites

  • You have permission to edit the report (edit permission). Without it, the “Edit” buttons are not visible.
  • The selectable scopes and their steps are maintained in the “Scopes of application” module under “Settings”.
  • Please note: the change is destructive – the previously defined steps of the former scope of application will be lost.

Change the scope of application

  1. In the “Reports” overview, open the report you want by clicking its table row.
  2. On the detail page, switch to the “Scopes of application” tab.
  3. In the “Scope of application” section, click “Edit”. The “Change scope” side panel opens.
  4. Under “Scope of application”, select the desired scope.
  5. Activate the “Confirm change” checkbox and read the hint “This change is destructive, i.e. the previously defined steps in the application area will be lost.”
  6. Click “Save”. Use “Cancel” to close the side panel without changes.

Work through the steps of the scope

Directly below, the “Steps” section shows the checklist items of the newly selected scope of application.

  1. Review the table with the columns “Name”, “Creation date” and “Description”.
  2. Activate the checkboxes of the steps you have completed.
  3. Click the “Save” bulk action to apply the completion status.

If no scope of application is assigned to the report, the note “No entries available” appears instead. After the change, the page heading shows the new scope of application after the report name, as does the breadcrumb navigation.

Practical tip

Only change the scope of application if it was wrongly chosen from the outset. Because the previous processing state of the steps is lost, the change should be made as early as possible in the procedure.
