Add files and link reports
How to upload files directly to a report and link related reports with each other – both from the “Files” and “Linked reports” tabs on the report’s detail page.
You add documents that belong to a case and create visible connections to other reports that concern the same matter. You do both from the report’s detail page.
Prerequisites
- You have permission to edit the report (edit permission).
- You are on the detail page of the report concerned.
Add files
Files stored via the “Files” tab belong directly to the case – in contrast to file attachments that are exchanged within individual messages in the “Activities and Messages” tab.
- Open the report’s detail page and switch to the “Files” tab.
- Click “New”. The “Add files” side panel opens.
- In the “Files” field, upload one or more files. You can select several files at once.
- Click “Save”, or click “Close” to close without changes.
To remove a file again, activate the relevant rows in the table of the “Files” tab, choose the “Delete” bulk action and confirm the operation.
Link reports with each other
Links make content-related connections between cases visible – for example when several reports concern the same matter or the same person involved.
- Open the report’s detail page and switch to the “Linked reports” tab.
- Click “New”. The “Linked reports” side panel opens.
- In the “Report” field, select the report to link.
- Click “Save”, or click “Close” to close without changes.
To undo a link, activate the relevant rows in the table of the “Linked reports” tab and choose the “Delete” bulk action.
Tips from practice
- Store documents that concern the whole case – minutes or review reports, for instance – in the “Files” tab. Everyone working on the case will find them there, whereas attachments from individual messages get lost in the thread.
- Link related reports as soon as the connection becomes apparent. If you wait until the case is nearly closed, the reference is missing exactly when it is needed for your assessment.
