Record stakeholder engagement on an IRO

If an IRO came out of a conversation with the people you affect – a workshop, a survey or a supplier audit – you record that in the first step of the IRO wizard. There is no separate engagement page and no stakeholder register; engagements are created right on the IRO.

Prerequisites

• The topic’s DMA has the status “Draft”.
• You have the role Administrator, Manager or Editor.

Step by step

1. On the DMA page, click “Add IRO”. The wizard opens at the “Record the source” step.
2. Under “Source”, choose “A stakeholder engagement”.
3. In the “Stakeholder engagement” field, select one or more engagements already recorded for this assessment.
4. If the conversation is not recorded yet, click “Record an engagement”. In the slide-over, fill in the “The conversation” section:
   • “Stakeholder group” – a group you have already engaged in this assessment, or a new one you type in.
   • “Method” – Survey, Interview, Focus Group, Workshop, Written Consultation or Public Hearing.
   • “Date” and, optionally, “Participants”.
   Click “Save”. The new engagement is then available to select.
5. Under “Their feedback”, enter what the participants said about this matter – in their own words where possible.
6. Continue the wizard as usual (see Add and assess an IRO). In the “Outcome” step, the “Stakeholder engagement” line shows the linked engagement.

Good to know

• When you later “Edit” an IRO, you can link existing engagements and change the feedback. A new engagement can only be recorded in the “Add IRO” wizard.
• The group is a field of the engagement. The groups already used in this assessment are offered.
• Engagements are neither archived nor deleted; the link on the IRO stays.
• What is recorded is the feedback on the IRO, not a materiality rating by the stakeholders.
• IROs suggested by the AI always have the source “Our own records”. If such an IRO really came from a conversation, change the source with “Edit”.

Practical tip: Conversations you already hold count as engagement too, such as supplier audits. The ESRS treat engagement with affected stakeholders as a key input to the materiality assessment.
