Edit and correct an emissions calculation
How to revise an emissions calculation you have already saved in preeco | nachhaltigkeit: return the record to draft status, correct the values in the five-step dialog, check the recalculated result, and understand the effect on your E1 report.
A wrong consumption value, an outdated emission factor or a corrected source: this article shows how to revise an emissions calculation you have already saved, have the result recalculated, and understand what this means for your reports. Creating a record from scratch is not covered here.
Prerequisites
- You are signed in to your team and hold the administrator role.
- The emissions record is in “Draft” status. Only then is the “Edit” button visible on the detail page.
- If the record is “Confirmed”, first revert it via “Actions → Return to draft”. The dialog explains: “This will revert the emissions record to draft status so that it can be edited again.” The “Edit” button is then available again.
Adjust an existing calculation
- Open “Climate → Greenhouse gas emissions” in the left menu and click the row you want to correct in the “Emissions records” table.
- Click “Edit” at the top right. The “Edit Emissions Calculation” dialog opens.
- The dialog guides you through the same five steps as when creating a new record — “Scope selection”, “Type of activity”, “Activity data”, “Emission factor” and “Preview & Save”. All fields are prefilled with the existing values; “Reporting period” and “Consolidation approach” are read-only in step 1.
- Adjust the entries you need and navigate using “Next” and “Back”. The step bar lets you jump straight to a step you have already completed — for example only to “Emission factor” if the factor was the only thing that was wrong.
- Save the revised calculation in step 5. Use “Cancel” to discard all changes.
Check the recalculation
The result is recalculated from your changed entries — there is nothing extra to trigger. Before saving, review in step 5:
- the “Calculation Formula” with the new result in
tCO2e, - the “Breakdown of Greenhouse Gas Emissions” by CO₂, CH₄ and N₂O,
- the “Data Quality Assessment” with the “Overall Score” (1 = Best, 5 = Worst) — a better source improves the score, a manual estimate lowers it.
After saving, the “Calculation breakdown” tab on the detail page shows the new derivation, and the scope metrics in the header of the “Greenhouse gas emissions” page are updated.
Effect on reports
- The sections of the E1 disclosure report take their source data from the emissions data of the assigned reporting period, so a correction feeds through to the “E1-5” and “E1-6” disclosures.
- Narrative text that has already been written for a section is not updated automatically. After a material correction, review the affected section again and update it where necessary.
- Set the record back to “Confirmed” after the correction so that the inventory enters your reporting fully confirmed.
Practical tip: When correcting the emission factor, also change the reference year and the source — auditors compare the factor details with the official factor databases (for example DEFRA, UBA).
