Create an organization

In preeco | nachhaltigkeit, the organization is the legal entity your reporting refers to. Create it first: materiality assessments, reporting boundaries and facilities all draw on this master data record. Creation is carried out in a four-step dialog.

Prerequisites

• You are signed in to your team and hold the role “Administrator” or “Manager”.
• You know the full legal company name and the country of legal registration.
• If a group structure exists, you know the position of the new organization within it and whether it is fully consolidated.

Step by step

1. In the left menu, select the menu item “Settings”. The page “Organizations and facilities” loads automatically.
2. In the “Organizations” section, click “Add organization” at the top right. A side dialog titled “Create organization” opens on the right, with the step bar “01 Company identity”, “02 Industry classification”, “03 Company size” and “04 Review”.
3. In step 01, enter the “Legal name” (mandatory field) exactly as recorded in the commercial register and select the “Jurisdiction” (mandatory field), that is, the country of legal registration. The “Registration number” is optional. Click “Next”.
4. In step 02, fill in the “Company description” (mandatory field, at least 50 characters) with your key products, services and markets. Once the description is detailed enough, you can request AI-supported recommendations using “Suggest NACE codes”.
5. In the “NACE classification” table, use “Select primary code” to set your main activity – a four-digit NACE code at class level is required. Add further material economic activities with “Add secondary code”; you can also search using “Browse register” or “Browse hierarchy”. Click “Next”.
6. In step 03, enter the “Number of employees”. If you leave the “Size classification” at Automatically calculated or select manually, the application derives the size class from the number of employees; otherwise select it yourself. Set the “Entity type” (mandatory field, default Standalone entity) and answer the question on full consolidation in the group's consolidated financial statements with “Yes” or “No”. Click “Next”.
7. In step 04, check the overview with the tables “Company identity”, “Industry classification” and “Company size & entity type”. To correct an entry, return to the relevant step using the step bar or “Back”.
8. Click “Create organization”. The dialog closes and the organization appears with the status “Active” in the “Organizations” table.

Mandatory fields at a glance

• “Legal name” and “Jurisdiction” in step 01.
• “Company description” with at least 50 characters in step 02.
• “Entity type” in step 03.

If mandatory fields are empty, the application informs you and blocks the move to the next step. You can discard the dialog at any time using the close icon or “Cancel” – any data already entered will be lost.

Relationship to facilities

Facilities are the sites and operating locations beneath an organization. Every facility must be assigned to an owning organization, so the organization has to exist first. Industry classification and number of employees also feed into the AI-supported identification of impacts, risks and opportunities in the materiality assessments, and the information on financial consolidation determines whether the organization is included in the CSRD reporting boundary.

Practical tip

Enter your reporting parent organization as the very first organization. Once it exists, model the consolidation relationship for subsidiaries on the “Legal entity structure” page. If an organization later changes its role, for example after a divestment, the historical reporting data remains intact – you can set the organization to “Archived” at any time without losing dependent records.
