Check Energy Data for Completeness
Before closing a reporting period in preeco | nachhaltigkeit, check whether consumption data exists for every facility and every energy type. The completeness matrix shows the gaps per facility and period before the emissions inventory is calculated.
Before you close a reporting period and calculate the emissions inventory, use the “Completeness of Data” page to see which facilities and energy types are still missing consumption data for the selected reporting period. That way you close gaps while they can still be closed.
Prerequisites
- At least one organization with facilities has been created.
- Energy data records have already been entered for the reporting period you want to check.
- You have access to the “Climate → Energy Consumption” area of your team.
Opening the page
The completeness check is currently not accessible via the left-hand menu or a button. You open it directly via the address bar by appending /completeness to the address of the energy consumption page. The breadcrumb path of the page is “Dashboard > Climate > Energy Consumption > Completeness of Data”.
Step by step
- Open your team's energy consumption page and append
/completenessto the address. The “Completeness of Data” page appears with the note “Check the coverage of energy data across all facilities and energy types for the selected period.” - In the “Filter Criteria” section, select the “Organization” whose facilities you want to check.
- Select the “Reporting Period”. The evaluation is updated automatically – there is nothing to confirm.
- Read the four key figures at the top of the page: “Total Facilities”, “With Data”, “Missing Data” and “Completeness” in percent. The “Completeness Overview” shows the same fulfillment level as progress (“… % complete”).
- Work through the “Completeness Matrix”. It compares facilities with energy types: green means actual data, yellow means estimated data and red means missing data.
- Note every red combination of facility and energy type and enter the missing consumption data in the energy consumption module. Then run the check again until no red fields remain.
- Where possible, replace yellow fields – that is, estimates – with actual values before you close the reporting period.
If the matrix stays empty
- If the message “No data is available for the selected filters, please adjust your selection.” appears, adjust the organization or the reporting period.
- If the message “No facilities were found for the selected organization.” appears, create facilities for that organization first.
- Records you entered at organization level instead of facility level do not appear in the facility-based matrix.
Practical tip: run the completeness check monthly, not only at the end of the period. Missing meter readings can still be requested from the utility provider promptly – months later that is often no longer possible. A complete energy data basis is a prerequisite for a reliable Scope 1 / Scope 2 inventory and for reporting under ESRS E1-5.
