Managing organizations – everything at a glance

How to create, edit and structure your organizational units under "Settings > Organizations".

In preeco | data protection, organizations form the structural basis of your data protection documentation. For example, you can represent company locations, departments or legal entities as separate organizations and assign each of them its own processing activities and documents.

Open organization management:
Navigate to "Settings > Organizations". Here you see all the organizational units already created in an overview.

Create a new organization:
Click on "Add organization" or the plus sign. Enter the name of the organization and fill in the other available fields such as description or parent unit. Save the entry to create the new organization.

Edit an organization:
In the overview, click on the desired organization and then on "Edit". Adjust the details and save the changes.

Delete an organization:
Open the organization and select the "Delete" option. Note that deletion is only possible if no active processing activities or documents are assigned to the organization.

Build a hierarchical structure:
You can nest organizations hierarchically – for example a parent company with assigned subsidiaries. This structure makes it easier to keep an overview and to maintain tenant-based data protection documentation.

Tip: Plan your organizational structure carefully before creating processing activities. A clear structure saves time later and considerably simplifies GDPR-compliant documentation.
