Support for login via Entra ID in preeco | data protection

Background

preeco | data protection supports central login via single sign-on (SAML). Microsoft Entra ID can also be set up as an identity provider; the specific name of the login button (for example Log in with Microsoft Entra ID) is defined by the administrator of your organization.

Prerequisite: Private Cloud Hosting

The SAML connection is available exclusively in the Private Cloud Hosting variant. On request you will receive an individual quote for this variant.

Scope of functions

• The connection serves exclusively for authentication via Entra ID.
• Automatic user provisioning (for example creating or blocking accounts from Entra ID) is not part of the connection.

Login from a user perspective

With the SAML connection activated, an additional Log in with Microsoft Entra ID button is available on the login page. After clicking it, you are redirected to the login at Entra ID and, after a successful login, automatically returned to the application.

If hybrid mode is activated, you can use the Log in with user name and password link to switch between the SAML login and the classic login. For domains subject to mandatory SAML, login is possible exclusively via SSO; a corresponding notice appears when the classic login is attempted.

Note on the email address

For accounts connected via single sign-on (SAML), the email address is taken from the identity provider. In this case it is not possible to change the email address independently in preeco | data protection.
