Setting up and managing API keys in preeco | data protection
You store the API key for the AI provider in preeco | data protection under Settings → Integrations in the AI provider section. The key is stored masked and is not displayed when the editing form is opened again; in this case, enter it once more. Ideally use a lean key with a budget limit.
Background
In preeco | data protection you configure the AI provider centrally under Settings → Integrations. The stored API key is treated like a password and is only shown masked in the overview.
Storing or changing the API key
- Click Settings in the left sidebar.
- Select the entry Integrations.
- In the AI provider section, click Edit. A side panel opens.
- Activate the AI provider and enter AI provider, API key and Model. Optionally adjust the Standard instruction.
- Click Save.
Note: the API key in the editing form
For security reasons, the API key is not displayed in plain text. If you edit the configuration again after saving it for the first time, the input field for the API key remains empty. In this case, enter the key again so that it is adopted completely when saving. You can view the current key at any time in the administration interface of your AI provider and copy it from there.
Recommendation
With your AI provider, create an API key with restricted permissions and a monthly budget limit. This way you keep control over the usage and avoid unexpected costs.
