Person cannot be selected in the task list – checking the organization and user affiliation
A person missing from selection lists is usually the result of an incorrectly selected organization, a missing organization assignment or an inactive user account. Check the active organization, the affiliation of the person, the status (Active, Invited, Deactivated), the user group and the team membership one after another. If all points are correct, the person is available in the selection list.
Background
If a person does not appear in the selection list of a task or release, this is usually due to the currently active organization, the organization affiliation of the person or the status of their user account. The following checks help to narrow down the cause.
Checking the active organization
The currently selected organization is displayed at the top of the application. This selection determines which people and documents are shown to you in the currently active context. Make sure that the organization in which the person you are looking for works is selected.
Checking the affiliation of the person
People are only available for selection in the organizations they are assigned to. Under Settings → User, make sure that the desired person is present in the user list and assigned to the correct organization. Users with access to All organizations are available team-wide; restricted affiliations only apply to the assigned organizations.
Checking the status of the user account
The Status field in the user list shows the state an account is in:
- Active — the person is fully available for selection.
- Invited — the invitation has been sent but not yet accepted. As long as the person has not confirmed the invitation, they may be missing from selection lists.
- Deactivated — the account is blocked; the person is no longer available in selection lists.
A deactivated person has to be activated again under Settings → User, a person who has not yet confirmed has to accept the invitation.
User group and module permission
Each person is assigned to exactly one user group (role). The role defines which functions and modules the person may use. Make sure that the user group is generally allowed to see the Tasks module — otherwise members of the role may not appear in the selection lists of tasks.
Checking the team membership
The correct team membership is also a prerequisite. If the person's access to the team has been withdrawn, they no longer appear in the selection lists either. If in doubt, check under Settings → User whether the person is still an active member of the team.
